There are some of us who have been involved in SEO for a while now, long enough that it might be difficult to believe that it’s still in its fledgling stages. But the fact is SEO still hasn’t reached its full potential – people are still discovering and realizing its capabilities as a marketing device.
Even today, most SEO companies are still developing a name for themselves through brand recognition and company growth. Many of these companies are going through a cooperative and not competitive phase with each other in order to help advance the knowledge and capabilities of SEO. This is in preparation for when that static demand finally becomes kinetic, and companies will have to broaden quickly.
And this growth will happen soon. Search engines are starting to not only involve keywords and relevance into the algorithm, but a business’ proximity to the user, as well. A small local business can finally start seeing the usefulness of SEO for its website. Not to mention that people in general are turning more and more to the internet and search engines to find businesses and get questions answered.
So what does this mean? Well, with what could be a tremendous increase in interest in SEO, there will need to be more talent to do the jobs. The problem is talent’s not being produced quickly enough. Some colleges do offer diplomas for internet marketing and digital media, but these diplomas do not necessarily teach someone how to optimize a website.
Now is the time to prepare. With the increased demand for SEO, limited talent, and no fully developed method for creating the best optimization for a website, there will be significant fluctuations in the market, from clients to employees. It is important to try and stay ahead of the curve and set the precedents. SEO is on its way to becoming something much larger than it even is now.
